An educational seminar on the topic of “Misinformation and content verification practices” took place on Monday, September 25, 2023, at the University of Cyprus library facilities in Nicosia. The event was aimed at all library staff members of the educational institution and was conducted within the context of the research program “Mediterranean Digital Media Observatory” and the actions in the area of media literacy.
During the event, information about the actions and goals of this specific research program was presented. Subsequently, the presentation focused on the phenomenon of online misinformation in the current digital media ecosystem, its key characteristics, and the existence of tools/practices that aid in content verification. All attendees actively participated by asking questions and making remarks, demonstrating a keen interest in the aforementioned topics, while also expressing the opinion that many elements can be useful in their work.
