Informational workshops for students on the topic of “Disinformation and Content Verification” were conducted by the Journalism Research Laboratory (J-Lab) of the Department of Social and Political Sciences at the University of Cyprus on Wednesday, 06/05/2026, at the Regional Gymnasium of Agia Varvara in Nicosia. The workshops were held within the framework of the Mediterranean Digital Media Observatory (MedDMO), in collaboration with the Cyprus Radio Television and Digital Services Authority.
During the workshops, which were attended by first- and second-year lower secondary school students (aged 12-13), key characteristics and concepts related to mis/disinformation were presented, along with practical content verification techniques. Information regarding the activities and objectives of MedDMO was also shared. The students participated actively by asking questions and demonstrating strong interest in the topics presented.
