An educational seminar on the topic of “Disinformation and Content Verification Practices” took place on Tuesday, July 2, 2024, at the University of Cyprus (UCY) in Nicosia. The event was aimed at high school students (aged 15 to 18) and was conducted within the context of the MedDMO and the 2024 UCY Summer Academy courses for students.
During the event, information about the actions and goals of MedDMO was presented, and students engaged in discussions about the phenomena of online misinformation and disinformation, the current digital media ecosystem, its key characteristics, and the existence of tools and practices that aid in content verification. Attendees actively participated by asking questions and making remarks, demonstrating a keen interest in the topics, while also expressing concerns about the impact and prevalence of disinformation in the media environment and society in general.
