Just before and after the prime minister called Malta’s snap general election, a number of dubious domains were registered, all leading to websites that were decidedly biased towards the governing Labour Party. Social media pages and accounts with evidence of troll farming were also set up, some directly associated with the sites. There were clear signs of coordination, the content was well-versed in the local sociopolitical context, and it knew how to target its audience. This report analyses what appeared to be an influence operation directed at galvanising political supporters ahead of Malta’s general election of 30th May 2026.
