Monitoring Meta, Google, and TikTok’s practices to combat Disinformation in Greece, Cyprus, and Malta: MedDMO 2nd Annual Report – Part B (2024)

This is the second part of MedDMO’s annual report on platform practices and national authority support for Cyprus, Greece, and Malta. Covering the period from 1 January to 30 June 2024, the report offers a qualitative assessment of how Meta, Google, and TikTok implemented the EU Code of Practice on Disinformation across three key pillars: empowering users, supporting researchers, and enabling fact-checkers, with a focus on the three countries. Additionally, the report lists the MedDMO collaboration with the national authorities in 2024.

The analysis follows the EDMO methodology proposed and published by the EDMO Working Group on CoP Evaluation, ensuring a structured, transparent assessment of Very Large Online Platforms’ (VLOPs) self-reported actions. Insights and comparative benchmarks are drawn from the joint evaluation report Implementing the EU Code of Practice on Disinformation: An Evaluation of VLOPSE Compliance and Effectiveness (Jan–Jun 2024).
