MedDMO hub meeting in Thessaloniki

Our plenary meeting in Thessaloniki took place on Thursday and Friday, June 12 and 13, bringing us together for the last time in the course of the current round of MedDMO to examine our overall progress and gear up for the project’s next round.

The team discussed extensively our fact-checking content, the targeted media literacy training, and our technological toolset and how it can get enriched.

Thessaloniki was the place where our team first met in December 2022, and it certainly felt as if everything fell into place now that the project entered its very final days.

We remain confident that starting next autumn, we’ll keep providing critical help to the citizens across the Mediterranean region in terms of analyzing disinformation narratives.

On Thursday, June 12, under the auspices of the Mediterranean Digital Media Observatory, the event “Digital Tools & Actions Against Disinformation” also took place before the MedDMO meeting.

The event included presentations by leading experts, with a focus on the ongoing activities of the Mediterranean Digital Media Observatory and the MediaPot platform for multimedia content analysis. Participants explored a comparative statistical analysis of fact-checking practices at the Mediterranean and European levels, gained insights into dominant disinformation narratives in Greece, and became familiar with collaborative verification tools such as Truly Media. Additionally, innovative technologies for detecting manipulated audiovisual content have been presented, along with the MediaPot platform for multimedia content analysis.
