Videos of an explosion posted by pro-Iranian accounts on X, supposedly showing a US missile strike on army bases in Kuwait, are of an explosion in Malta on Monday June 1, 2026.
The videos show a spectacular series of explosions resulting in a large plume of black smoke rising into the air.
“JUST IN: Iran Hits U.S. Bases in Kuwait Again; Tensions Reach Critical Level,” one post reports.
It claims that Iran has launched a new missile strike on US military bases in Kuwait, describing the situation as “a major escalation in the standoff”.
Citing secret sources, it says “the region is now on edge as fears of a broader confrontation intensify”.
The post was viewed over 339,000 times, with thousands of users sharing the footage.

However, the footage shows an explosion at a fireworks factory in Malta, not a US strike on Kuwait.
The explosion took place early in the morning on Monday June 1 in the area of Salina, at the Lourdes Fireworks Factory in the north of the island.
The first blast was felt at around 6.30am, with a series of other, larger blasts, following shortly afterwards.
The explosion was powerful enough to register a magnitude of 1.9 on the Richter scale according to earthquake monitoring sites.
Footage of the blasts was captured by residents across the island, many of them describing damages to their homes caused by the explosion.
The videos posted to X show one of the many videos taken by residents at the time of the blast.
There were no casualties in the explosion, although two men aged 47 and 67 who tilled nearby fields were hospitalised and treated for shock and slight injuries.
However, the blast killed several animals that lived in the area, including four cows that belonged to a nearby farm.
Several birds in a nearby bird sanctuary also died as a result of the blast, including a pink flamingo, an owl and a 57-year-old parrot.
