The migration discourse in the era of fake news, as well as the protection of Malta’s media landscape in the digital age and the fostering of ethical use of AI were discussed thoroughly between academics, researchers, students, and NGOs during a disinformation-themed conference held at the University of Malta last Friday.
Ġorġ Mallia – Head of the Department of Media and Communications at the University of Malta – and Neville Borg – fact-checker at the Times of Malta – spoke on two separate panels about their involvement in MedDMO and the broader EDMO project.
Entitled Disinformation, Misinformation, and the Digital Environment: Challenges and Opportunities, the event was organized by the Department of Information Policy and Governance at the University of Malta under the EU-funded project DOMINOES (Digital Competences Information EcoSystem).
